Tin Cure vs Platinum Cure
Tin cure silicones are more economical and faster to cure, with less sensitivity to contaminants that can inhibit curing—making them great for general use. However, platinum cure silicones offer greater mould life, higher precision, and options for food-safe applications. If you're after premium performance, especially for professional or high-detail projects, our platinum range is the better choice.
Use TC20 for fast, forgiving moulds where precision and longevity aren’t critical.
For professional, food-safe, or high-detail applications, our platinum cure silicones are the gold standard.
Tougher. Faster. Built for structure.
TC40 is the firmer sibling to our popular TC20—designed for applications where you need a bit more strength and rigidity in your mould. With a shore hardness of 40A, it's ideal for low-flex, high-detail moulds that need to hold their shape under pressure, such as concrete casting, resin parts, and industrial components.
Like all our tin cure silicones, TC40 is resistant to cure inhibition and cures quickly at room temperature. It’s a dependable, budget-friendly solution for makers and manufacturers alike.
Catalyst included.

Tin Cure vs Platinum Cure
Tin cure silicones like TC40 are cost-effective, quick to cure, and less affected by materials that often inhibit platinum silicones. However, platinum cure silicones are the preferred option for high-precision work, longer mould life, and food-safe applications. For structural moulds on a budget, TC40 hits the sweet spot.
What is Shore Hardness?
Our SiliPig pigment range is a great option for colouring your silicone moulds, casts and more! Can be used to colour a final piece or used during mixing to ensure a thorough and consistent product.
Compatible with all of our silicones! (Not compatible with resins and epoxies)
Please note this pigment is skin safe but not suitable for use in food grade applications.
Please start with a small amount. You can always add more if required!
Use 2-5 grams per kilogram and mix well! Amount will vary by the depth of colour required.
They come in 25g containers, so are good for up to ~14kg of silicone!
